The Stones may be on hiatus but Keith Richards didn’t get that memo and was itching to record and Jagger, Charlie and Ronnie were in hibernation according to the inside of his new record Crosseyed Heart. His first solo album in 23 years, it doesn’t have the prancing and pouting of Mick Jagger over the guitar, but it does have the experience and gravelly tone of Keith Richards. It has rock, blues, country and even reggae with a cover of Gregory Isaacs “Love Overdue”. There are songs about getting your stash stolen in “Robbed Blind” as Keith sings “The cops I can’t involve them” not shying away from all of his past. Even though Keith has seen more drugs over the years than the entire country of Columbia, I’m sure he could of replaced them, this song isn’t about losing the stash but being betrayed. There are lots of clever humourous lyrics within this album, even a song about when he nearly died after he got hit on the head by a coconut on “Amnesia”. It’s a good mix and shows all aspects of his career and things he’s went through, it ‘s quite biographical so worth the listen if your into Rolling Stones.
