I’m gonna level with you: I’ve not really listened to the Dwarves before, but I thought I’d fined something new to review, and at £4.99 I thought why not. I do these things so you don’t have to. The reason I’ve never listened to the Dwarves is they kinda freaked me out, they’re a bunch of older punk dudes that seem really out there, and that’s still how I feel after listening to this EP.
Two songs “Gentleman Blag” and “Kings of the World” come from their last album The Dwarves Invented Rock And Roll and two new B - SIDES. The EP contains songs about sex, having an STD and Satan. Hardcore punk song “Trisexual” comes in at about 30 seconds, while “Kings Of The World” sounds like throwaway pop punk. The best song on the EP is “Stuck In The Void”, where the screaming vocals of Nick Oliveri stand out.
The cover art is highly suggestive to say the least, even The Rolling Stones “Sticky Fingers” left something to the imagination. But is the cover really punk or edgy? Does it have a message? Or was it just a way for front man Blag to get naked with two younger women. It's not like its new its what Dwarves do, really I get that it’s shocking or funny but I don’t want to see a guy who’s in his forties with his junk out when I open the package with my new records in it, I don’t want a package in my package is what I’m trying to say.
