Here is another helping of Moon Monkey for you to chew on like a piece of Bison liver. This episode we review The Revenant. Directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu who also made Birdman which I really liked a lot. The Revenant based on a true story, is a brutal watch, but totally worth it, so good I've seen it twice. I do have a controversial idea that Hugh Glass starts acting like a bear but I don't even mention it on the podcast I've saved that doozy for below....
Yeah Hugh Glass gets attacked by a bear, which sneaks up on you, when you first hear the bear you don't know if the noise is Hugh Glass breathing, but it's really the bear! Later he then starts wearing the bear pelt, hiding in the forest, swimming down the river and catching and eating raw fish with his bare hands (not bear hands). He even starts grunting like a bear, DiCaprio is the bear. It probably is more about a connection with humanity and nature and how Glass/Bear are just surviving in the harsh world and trying to protects their respective son/cubs. But there are loads of parallel stories within this epic, atmospheric movie. I'm not suggesting he goes full Jeff Goldblum and transforms like The Fly people but you get my drift. However I am suggesting you go watch this film.
